St. Paul’s Hospital is opening a 15-bed community-based hospice, located at 301 Hilliard Street East, under the ownership of Emmanuel Health and with the support of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation. The facility will operate in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority with support from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health.
St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation officially launched its public campaign, “Close to Home”, at the end of January. Funding for the hospice is one of the pillars of the campaign.
Beginning the week of April 15th, you can expect to see activity on the site (301 Hilliard Street East) as crews begin to set up for demolition and prepare for construction. There will be a significant renovation of, and an addition built onto, the existing building.
Throughout the project, St. Paul’s Hospital will be working closely with the general contractor to ensure appropriate communication to the neighbourhood when there are construction activities that may be more disruptive to the area, such as changes to traffic flow. Safety is extremely important to the team and we are strongly committed to maintaining a safe work environment in this beautiful residential area.
As with all construction projects, the City of Saskatoon’s Noise Bylaw and Building Standards prohibit unreasonably loud and excessive sounds between 10pm and 7am (Mon-Sat) and 10pm to 9am (Sundays and Statutory Holidays), and construction crews are bound by this bylaw.
Construction is expected to begin late April 2019 and take approximately a year to complete. This is a very exciting time in the project, as our years of planning will now be brought to fruition.
Further updates will be shared in the weeks and months ahead as the project progresses.
