For the 14th season of Theatre in the Park, SUM Theatre takes us to Taupe Town in the 45-minute play, The Colour of the Town. This year’s story features the weekly voting process of Taupe where they decide what colour the town should be painted. When a pair of youth in the town learn about other colours, will they be able to convince others into voting to paint the town in these new colours? This play ends up highlighting the power each person holds in a democracy, and the power each of us has to improve our shared community.

The Colour of the Town is an original production, created by the Sum Theatre ensemble and offered, free of charge, in neighbourhood parks around Saskatchewan in May and June.  As always, the production was created in response to current issues.  It is a fun and thought-provoking performance for people of all ages.  Catchy original music and colourful sets, props and costumes brought these stories to life.

This year, QEXCA will host SUM Theatre’s presentation in W.W. Ashley Park on Friday evening, June 26th, starting at 7pm.

Before the Show Fun

From 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on the day of the performance, QEXCA will be hosting family fun activities for the community, including Face Painting by donation. There will also be a concession, with all the proceeded going towards future events held by QEXCA.

If you are a local artist or vendor that would like to display your work before the play, you are free to do so. No fee or registration is required, all you have to do is show up on the evening of Friday, June 26th and bring your own table or other reasonably sized method of display.
